Labouchère System

A progression based on a numerical sequence in which the bet size is determined by the values at both ends of the sequence, while results gradually change its structure.

1, 2, 3, 4 → 5 → 6...

How It Works

STEP 01

Starting Sequence

The user defines a numerical sequence. Its total determines the potential target for completing the full cycle.

STEP 02

Bet Size

Typically, the bet equals the sum of the first and last numbers in the sequence, multiplied by the value of one unit.

STEP 03

Updating the Sequence

After a win, the numbers at both ends are removed. After a loss, the bet amount is added to the end of the sequence.

Sequence Feature

Unlike linear progressions, the bet is determined not only by the previous result but by the current structure of the entire numerical sequence. As a result, bet sizes can increase rapidly during a losing streak.

Important Limitation

The system does not change the expected value of the underlying event or guarantee that a cycle will be completed profitably. The starting sequence, bankroll, and maximum bet limit directly constrain how long the progression can continue.

Model Parameters

These values are used for bankroll safety calculations, the manual trainer, and the automated simulation.

Bankroll Safety Margin

This calculation shows how many consecutive losses the bankroll can cover when each loss adds the current bet to the end of the sequence.

#3$70.00(7 units)
#4$80.00(8 units)
#5$90.00(9 units)

#8$120.00(12 units)
#9$130.00(13 units)

Interactive Trainer

Run the sequence manually and observe how the results change the numerical sequence, bet size, and bankroll.

Current Bankroll

Current Sequence

Next Bet: $50.00 (5 units)
After a win, the numbers at both ends of the sequence are removed. After a loss, the number of units used for the bet is added to the end of the sequence. When the sequence is completely cleared, the current cycle is considered complete.

Strategy Simulation

Repeated simulations of random sequences allow you to explore the behavior of the numerical sequence, bankroll requirements, and cycle completion frequency under the specified parameters.

What This Section Shows

The calculator demonstrates the mathematical behavior of the Labouchère system: changes in the numerical sequence, bet size, bankroll requirements, and streak length under the specified limits. The model does not eliminate risk and does not guarantee a positive outcome for any individual betting session.
